Duties and Responsibilities:

They will check their client's teeth and the current condition of them, to do this they will examine and assess their client's teeth, in order to determine whether their clients need braces or require teeth removed. They design and construct individual dental appliances, such as retainers, with reference to the client's dental history.

College undergraduates who are interested in a career in orthodontia will most likely benefit from coursework or a major in science. Dental schools are selective, and admission requirements include an acceptable score on the Dental Admission Test. A state license is required to practice
